7/24 Book Reflection
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
There’s a lot in the book comparing what people think you are born as to what you what you really are and the challenges that come with fighting against the people who want to force you to be something different. Rowling made a fortune telling people that they need to be good and to trust in themselves and their friends, and in this book specifically that what people say you are born as does NOT dictate who you are. This writer, who gave hope to children in the most difficult situations took it away from them as adults. She demeans the messages of her own writing by being a TERF. (Also, WOW she uses the term “savage” a whole bunch) And that sucks. This book is preparing for battle because an unavoidable battle is on it’s way, and I wanna stand up too. I want to be better than the people I used to look up to.
OHMYGOD, why is it so humid here?! “I’ll be fine,” I thought. “I lived in NOLA for 5 years,” I said. I lived and worked in AIR CONDITIONING. Not like this. I have, though, found a new love in Pocari Sweat. That stuff is AMAZING. To battle my daily dehydration I do bring a water bottle with me everywhere, but it’s still hard to make sure that I’m getting enough, so the Pocari Sweat really helps. Honestly, I haven’t had to be this crazy about water since I lived in AZ. This weekend there is a small group going to a winery, I think it’s going to be nice, but I’m not sure if I’m going to go myself. Like, I want to, but I felt super gross today. So, I guess it’ll depend on how I feel tomorrow. There is seriously, so much I want to see and do in my time here. I hope I can do everything.
Lately, I’ve been feeling pretty homeside for my dear. It’s a drag to feel this way, but also good? Cause I’m lucky to love someone so much that my body is like “nope” after being away from them for too long. It’s been 3 months and there’s still another 6 til his Christmas visit, but I’ll be okay if I keep busy. I’ve got a reading list, and video games and TVfor during the week and all sorts of stuff for the weekend, so it’ll be fine. I’m just going to be super sad sometimes and that’s OKAY.
